Astronomical Sunset

Astronomical Sunset

By Robert Lewis Vaughan

Directed by Chip Walton

Originally produced at Curious Theatre Company, Denver, CO.

November 6, 2010 through December 2, 2010

About the Premiere Production:
Mysterious, timely, and haunting, this world premiere is the latest work from Curious' longtime artistic colleague, Robert Lewis Vaughan. We have been proud to premiere two of his previous works, Praying For Rain and The Rest of the Night, and we are honored to launch this new play into the American repertoire. Astronomical Sunset is the story of a couple torn apart in a social media scandal, trying to repair their lives. With the appearance of two mysterious strangers who are NOT who they say they are...nothing is what it seems in this ever-changing thriller. Ripped from the headlines and teeming with unexpected twists and turns, this play will have you on the edge of your seat.

Artistic Statement:
This World Premiere is the latest work from our longtime artistic colleague, Robert Lewis Vaughan. We’ve been proud to premiere two of his previous works (Praying For Rain and The Rest of the Night), and we’re honored to launch this new play into the American repertoire.

What this grant has allowed us to do:
Additional rehearsal for a world premiere production is a valuable asset to the overall outcome of a new work. Additional rehearsals and previews with our creative team in residence—including the playwright, director, actors, and production team— allows us to grow the play forward in production, writing, and performance execution prior to opening night and creates a remarkably better opportunity to move Astronomical Sunset forward into the canon of American plays.
