About the Premiere Production

The play is set in the suburbs of Long Island several years after 9/11, and chronicles the devastating and insidious impact of the event on two ordinary, middle-class families, and how such a cataclysmic event forever alters the dynamics of the closest of relationships. Its great achievement is that it manages to transcend the historical weight and burden that is brought to bear upon any play that attempts to deal with a human catastrophe of such magnitude that touches and rattles the collective consciousness. It conjures three dimensional characters who move beyond the oppressive weight of the tragedy as they try to integrate the event into their lives as opposed to having the event be the defining moment in their lives. At the end, the play achieves a sort of redemptive hope in the face of profound grief, making the play an important addition to the repertoire of the American stage.
