What time of day will sessions take place?

The majority of Fall Forum programming will take place between 11am-8pm ET, with core programming generally falling within the hours of 12pm-6pm ET. We encourage attendees to attend as much of the programming as you are able while you’re with us.

Do I need to attend every session?

You certainly don’t need to, though we hope you will take full advantage of our programmatic offerings. Most sessions will be recorded and available after the fact if you cannot attend in real time.

I’m a trustee/theatre leader, so do I need to attend all three days of the Fall Forum?

We encourage theatre artistic and managing leaders and trustees attending on November 11th to attend the following two days as they are able.

What is the difference between the three days of programming?

The first day, November 11th, will be a working session for the traditional Fall Forum audience of trustees and managing and artistic leaders of TCG Member Theatres, as we center anti-racism and the demands of BIPOC groups like WeSeeYouWAT in conversations about the reconstruction of the field. The subsequent two days, November 12th and 13th, will welcome all theatre professionals into our virtual space, to hear from our leaders what they worked through on the first day, and to build off those conversations, start new ones, and hear from speakers about building an equitable new theatre field as we emerge from these overlapping global crises.

Who can attend?

On November 11th, trustees and leaders of TCG Member Theatres may register along with other invited guests; on November 12-13th anyone who identifies as part of the nonprofit theatre community is welcome to join.

I’m new to the Fall Forum and don’t know where to start. What should I do?

Start with the information posted in the Fall Forum section of the TCG website. You will also receive at least two emails leading up to the event with more information. If you have a question about registration or access please contact Anne Ciarlone (aciarlone@tcg.org) and if you have a question about programming or schedule please contact Devon Berkshire (dberkshire@tcg.org).

What support does TCG offer to people with disabilities? Who can I contact regarding access?

This Fall Forum will offer live captioning and ASL interpretation to select sessions. A complete lists of sessions with these accommodations will be made available by Monday, November 9th. Additionally, when filling out your registration form, please indicate any access needs you may have. We will follow up with you about this information if need be, and work to support you as best as possible. If you have questions, please contact Anne Ciarlone (aciarlone@tcg.org).

Where do I find the Fall Forum schedule and learn more about programming?

A detailed agenda for this year's Fall Forum can be viewed here.

I’m registered, so how do I access the Fall Forum?

All registered attendees will be invited via email to a private event platform called Mighty Networks, exclusive for Fall Forum 2020, where exact session schedules, Zoom meeting links, downloadable calendar invites, and attendee discussion threads will be available. Registered attendees will be invited to this platform beginning Monday, November 2nd.

I really want to participate, but can’t afford to pay anything at this time. What can I do?

Please reach out to Devon Berkshire at dberkshire@tcg.org or Anne Ciarlone at aciarlone@tcg.org with your specific situation and they will advise you on your best registration option.

Do virtual convenings have dress codes?

At our in-person events, we encourage attendees to think “professional casual”, but wear what makes you feel comfortable. In a virtual setting, we know attendees will likely be joining from their homes, so we similarly encourage you to do the same!

Will I be expected to be on camera the whole time I am attending sessions?

You will not be required to be on camera at any point, but we do encourage you to remain visible to the extent that you are comfortable. Being on camera helps build a sense of community and trust, makes conversations more engaging for everyone, and allows facilitators to “read the room” more so than when many cameras are off. At the same time, we know that it can be draining to be “camera ready” all day, so we encourage you to take breaks as needed.

Are there other basic TCG Zoom best practices I should note?

We encourage you to mute yourself when you’re not speaking, to cut down on background noise. Individual sessions may offer their own requests for how to interact on Zoom during the session, and TCG may offer some further guidelines closer to the event.

I’d like to attend the Fall Forum, but I’m worried about balancing my child care routine.

Understandable! Know that TCG is a family-friendly space. We welcome and celebrate your children and as we all work remotely, we believe it is important to recognize the difficulties of managing your children with your own professional development. You’re welcome to have your children all around you, taking reasonable care not to disturb or distract from the session (i.e. keeping yourself muted, hiding video if you find it necessary, etc.).

I am not able to attend this year, are there other ways to participate?

Yes! We will livestream Fall Forum plenary sessions, including keynote speakers whenever possible, and have been adding more smaller session content to the stream in recent years. Please be on the lookout for more information on livestreaming as the Fall Forum draws closer. Please take note that some sessions will be recorded rather than live streamed, and it may take a little time to make those recordings available to registered attendees after the Forum.
