Above: TCG Staff gathering to celebrate a one-of-a-kind year.
TCG has been BUSY this year. We’ve published 10+ new TCG Books titles, hosted 3 (!) virtual conferences, and brought thousands of theatre people together – whether to party, commiserate, or to swap strategies.
If you want to relive your favorite 2020 TCG memories, we've got a full recap here.
TL;DR? Here are 9 reasons to celebrate this year (+ 1 reason we’re celebrating YOU!)
- TCG Action Alerts have generated over 11,400 constituent emails to Capitol Hill, and additional federal COVID-19 support is on the way!
- TCG honored David Henry Hwang and the National Black Theatre Festival at our OUR STORIES Gala in February – which turned out to be our in-person last hurrah.
- Michael R. Jackson became the first Black writer of a musical to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama with A Strange Loop, now available for preorder from TCG Books.
- TCG hosted countless calls with theatre leaders, supporters, and trustees to support and uplift each other during this difficult year.
- Over 2,000 theatre-makers gathered for TCG’s first virtual National Conference, held across two convenings this spring.
- American Theatre magazine hosted the first virtual AT Live – a table talk featuring a group of Black and Latinx trans women discussing their activism and art
- Access to ARTSEARCH, TCG’s theatrical career resource, is now free for all job seekers.
- Freelance designers received $45,000 in relief funds through the Freelancer Relief Fund: Theatre Designers, a partnership between TCG and TheFrontOffice.
- TCG completed our strategic planning process, and fortified and clarified TCG’s new mission: to lead for a just and thriving theatre ecology.
