We are happy to share the recording of the most recent offering from our Fall-Winter Convening Season  Emerging from the Cave: Artists Lead the Way, A TCG Forum.

In early 2021, the Sundance Institute commissioned theatre leader and longtime Sundance advisor Jesse Cameron Alick to conduct an independent study so they might better understand the most urgent needs and priorities of theatre practitioners in this time of crisis and disorientation. Alick interviewed over 70 artists and theatre-makers and released a provocative study this August, Emerging from the Cave: Reimagining Our Future in Theater and Live Performance. In Alick’s words, “This study aims to give us a road map to follow in this new future in which we now find ourselves.” Four key themes were identified in the report: collective leadership; holistic artist support; digital theatre and hybrid futures; and field ideation. In this daylong in-person convening in New York City, held on Saturday, November 13th as part of TCG's 2021-22 TCG Fall-Winter Convening Season: Crisis and Transformation, we will complement this research with input from an expanded group of artists. We will catalyze fieldwide conversation and action in response to the findings, guided by the voices that demand our attention: our artists. Note: this recording has been edited for time.
