We're excited to share the Divest to Invest campaign from our friends at Groundwater Arts! If you've been to a recent TCG convening the chances are high that you've been in a session led by one or more of the Groundwater team, so you already know the great work they're doing. We're grateful to be partnering with them for our upcoming Climate Action and Environmental Justice: A TCG Fieldwide Summit. So we hope you'll consider joining the campaign as an individual and/or as an organization.
You can find more information about the campaign
here and below, and you and your organization can
sign the pledge here.
It’s time to get fossil fuels off stage!
500 arts workers. 100 theaters. Saying NO to the fossil fuel industry by the end of 2021.
We are launching a movement to end the grasp fossil fuels have over our communities and our theaters and to invest in an equitable, thriving future, y’all. We can shift public support away from the fossil fuel industry by breaking sponsorship ties that fossil fuel companies have with our public institutions.
How can we fight for racial justice and accept funds from corporations that harm BIPOC and the planet? How can we pat ourselves on the back for being “progressive” or “antiracist” when we name our theaters after oil magnates and continue to accept sponsorships from fossil fuel companies? We can’t.
This is what we know:
Divesting is hard, and it is possible.
Finding new sources of investment is hard, and it is possible.
To change everything, we need everyone.
Take the Divest to Invest pledge today - let’s get fossil fuels off stage!
