The Medium is the Message: A Legacy Conversation with SITI Company
Following a two-year planning process that began in 2017, SITI Company determined that its mission was rooted in the passions of like-minded individual artists—its ensemble members—and not a larger self-sustaining institution that would continue on indefinitely. They agreed that by the end of 2022 they would transition to a smaller, more flexible entity tasked with preserving the ensemble’s legacy and serving as a bridge for the next generation of theatre artists and ensembles.
In the fall of 2020, SITI Company announced the SITI Legacy Plan, which includes the finale 30th anniversary season, the creation of a robust physical and digital living archive, and transition grants for the ensemble members.
The 30-year-old company will have a lively conversation moderated by Jessica Hanna (SITI Board Chair) about what being an artist-driven ensemble means, what it needs to thrive, and how important a graceful ending is.
This unique hybrid plenary will feature speakers both in Pittsburgh and virtually.
