Held virtually and in-person in New York City on November 11, Governance at the Crossroads: A Strategic Retreat will be a think tank for a deep, generative envisioning process. Through facilitated conversations around foundational questions of governance, we can collectively reimagine boards for a truly just and thriving theatre field.

One of the most popular sessions at our 2022 TCG National Conference: Pittsburgh was “It’s Broken, So Let’s Fix It: A Collective and Radical Reimagining of Theatre Boards.” You can view that session on-demand through our Pittsburgh Playback collection! Led by Michael J. Bobbitt, and building on his American Theatre article on the same theme, that session helped inspire our upcoming retreat.

These conversations will also help trustees and theatre leaders meet the unique challenges of the moment as we continue to emerge from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the all-day strategic retreat on November 11, the event will include a social gathering the evening of Thursday, November 10 and an optional closing session the morning of Saturday, November 12.

How to Participate
Participation in Governance at the Crossroads: A Strategic Retreat will be accessible both virtually and in-person in New York City. Because of limited availability at the in-person event, we’re prioritizing registration for TCG Member Theatres in good standing, who will be welcome to send up to two representatives for a reduced rate, and strongly encouraging one of those attendees to be a trustee. There are no limits to virtual participation. We’re also planning to fully document the ideas generated by the Strategic Retreat to disseminate widely.

Registration will be open until November 4th, or until sold out!
