Virtual Toasts: Online Galas & Donor Engagement

With shuttered stages and social distancing, theatres have drawn on their trademark creativity to move their galas online. But how can you successfully engage donors without the magic of being in the room together? This webinar will feature theatres sharing what worked in their successful pivots to online galas, some of which were featured in the American Theatre article, "Galas Open Their Virtual Doors in Hopes of Opening Checkbooks."


Emika_Abe_small.jpgEmika Abe (she/her/hers) joined Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company (Washington, DC) as Managing Director in October 2019. Previously, she was Associate Managing Director of the Alliance Theatre, the largest regional theatre in the Southeast. With an MFA in Theater Management from Yale School of Drama and an MBA from Yale School of Management, Emika is passionate about the intersection of art and business, and the essential role that theatre can play in activating individuals and strengthening communities. She has previously held positions at Yale Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre, as well as fellowships at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Center Theatre Group, and Artists Repertory Theatre.



lynneve-6559.jpgLynn Eve Komaromi is currently in her 23rd season at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and has served as Director of Development since 2005. She is responsible for $5.5M in annual operating contributed revenue and has led several major fundraising campaigns. Most recently, the Theatre’s $50 million Create Campaign funded key strategic initiatives, including facilities renovations and the formation of The Ground Floor, its new works program. In addition to her work at Berkeley Rep, Lynn Eve has served on several LORT development conference committees, her local municipal arts council, and the national board of Slow Food U.S.A.
