This past Tuesday, September 24th, I had the pleasure of speaking about the economic impact of the arts at a breakfast in Naples, Florida. Local business owners and leaders, professional advisers, donors, and both local and state level politicians attended the event in support of Gulfshore Playhouse's efforts to build the $53M Gulfshore Playhouse and Education Center in downtown Naples. The goal of the event was to communicate to the business community at large the impact and economic role of the theatre, as the anchor arts facility in an area poised for future development.

Gulfshore also used this event to announce a large capital gift from Bank of America as part of their community-building foundation grants. The breakfast drew a good crowd (about 70 people), and the long term impact in terms of the region's advancements of the arts may be huge. As you can see from this document, nonprofit arts and cultural organizations have an enormous economic impact in their communities.
