At the 2019 TCG National Conference in Miami, I had the pleasure of working with longtime TCG collaborator Zannie Voss of SMU|DataArts on the skills-building session “The Long View: Data-Informed Decision-Making About Your Financial Future.” This well-received session prompted us to go deeper, and the fruits of our collaboration are now here.

Theatres at the Crossroads: Overcoming Downtrends & Protecting Your Organization Through Future Downturns

In this paper, we first explore the U.S. economic and financial outlook to better understand the environment and its risks. Then, starting with the years prior to the last recession, we follow trends for theatres’ finances and operations with a particular eye to our industry's greatest areas of vulnerability and ask how theatres can prepare themselves for an uncertain future. We conclude with recommendations of steps to take for such preparedness.
