Time Stands Still

Time Stands Still

By Donald Margulies

Directed by Daniel Sullivan

Originally produced at Geffen Playhouse, Los Angeles, CA.

February 3, 2009 through March 15, 2009

About the Premiere Production:
Time Stands Still provides glimpses into the life of Sarah and James, a longtime couple whose choices led them briefly down different paths, and who are now reconnecting back home. But " home" has taken on a different meaning for each of them during their absence. Through humor, trauma and a bit of frivolity, Time Stands Still uses Sarah and James, as well as their friends Richard and Mandy, to examine how one individual event ultimately affects the dynamics of a relationship as whole.

Artistic Statement: After a long and extremely rewarding relationship with Donald Margulies, the Geffen Playhouse was eager to work with him on creating a piece from the ground up. I have worked with Donald on many plays. His questions are complex and his answers remain open to interpretation, but we can always rest assured that Donald’s work will be compelling, entertaining and provocative. He is an artist with whom the Geffen will continue to collaborate for years to come. - From Producing Director Gilbert Cates
