Girl from the North Country

Girl from the North Country

by Conor McPherson directed by Conor McPherson

Originally produced at The Old Vic, London, UK

July 12 to October 7, 2017

About the Premiere Production:

Synopsis: The Old Vic is proud to present the World Premiere of Girl From the North Country, an electrifying new work from esteemed playwright Conor McPherson along with classic songs from Bob Dylan. Duluth, Minnesota in the midst of the Great Depression. A family adrift, their future on a knife edge. Lost and lonely people drifting through rooms of their guesthouse. But Nick Laine thinks he’s seen a way out.

Artistic Statement: "Conor McPherson is one of the my favourite writers. To be premiering a new work by him would itself be a thrill but to be staging the world premiere of Girl From the North Country with the music of Bob Dylan is a double whammy – a new play by one of the most esteemed writers working today with music from one of our greatest storytellers in song (and a Nobel Laureate to boot). The result is a script of rare emotion and a jewel in the crown of The Old Vic's season as we work to introduce audiences to the excitement and power of theatre with as broad a range of new writing and re-imagined classics as possible."
