Seder
by Sarah Gancher
Originally produced at Hartford Stage, Hartford, CT
October 19 to November 12, 2017
About the Premiere Production:
Inspired by a true story, Seder is a visceral family drama that weaves together a mother's mysterious past working for the Hungarian KGB with a daughter's outrage over the past atrocities. As the family attempts to celebrate its first Seder, a lifetime of dark secrets is unraveled.
Grant Statement: “Thanks to the generous support of the Edgerton Foundation, Hartford Stage was able to host a week of early rehearsal with the playwright, cast, and artistic team over the summer and add an additional week to the rehearsal process of our production of Seder by Sarah Gancher. This summer’s rehearsal was transformative for the production, providing an opportunity for actors and the artistic team to understand the physical life of the play. Getting the play on its feet inspired scenic design shifts, additional stage directions, and other discoveries, propelling the production to a more polished place for its world premiere on October 19.” -Michael Stotts, Managing Director
