Bio

JILL GARLAND is a leading nonprofit management executive with over 25 years of experience in the field. A strategic thinker, dynamic public speaker and generous mentor, her leadership has resulted in charities that are stronger, more resilient and smarter about how they raise resources for their important work.

Most recently, she focused on resource development for SummerStage’s 30th Anniversary season in Central Park and a host of sports, arts, education and advocacy programs for City Parks Foundation. Previously, Jill was a member of the senior management team of The Public Theater/NY Shakespeare Festivalwhere, as its Senior Director of Development, she and her talented team raised over $18 million annually for the beloved Shakespeare in the Park program and a host of plays and musicals in the organization’s historic downtown home. At The Public, she was deeply involved in organizational and board development, strategic planning, and the creation of key institutional messaging and branding.

Jill served as Montefiore/Nyack Hospital’s Vice President of Development and Executive Director of its Foundation and led a campaign to renovate its award-winning Emergency Department. She was the long-time Director of Development at Playwrights Horizons, where she designed and led their $33 million capital campaign that resulted in a new, five story building and the establishment of an endowment. 

Jill has held adjunct professor positions at New York University’s School of  Professional Studies, Brooklyn College, and has lectured at the Julliard School, Pace University, Marymount College and at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Jill studied dance at Adelphi University, and graduated from Empire State College (SUNY) with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee and Women in Development.
