Two Trains Running at Pittsburgh Public Theater
June 1 -19, 2022

In 1969, as the civil rights movement ignites across America, Memphis faces a battle of his own in Pittsburgh where the city wants to raze his Hill District restaurant for an urban renewal project. As the world faces rapid change, Memphis and his regular customers fight to keep a sense of order and dignity as they each take a leap of faith. Some of them bet on love, or luck, or justice. And some of them only trust the mystical advice of a 349-year-old Aunt Ester in this wise, funny, and achingly beautiful play that's brimming with local history and legendary language.

Adil Mansoor: Amm(i)gone with Operation Sappho DJ’s at The Warhol Theater
June 17, 2022 at 7pm

Amm(i)gone, an adaptation of Sophocles’ Antigone, is an apology to and from a mother. Creator and performer Adil Mansoor explores queerness, the afterlife, and obligation using canonical texts, teachings from the Quran, and audio conversations between him and his mother. Since discovering his queerness, Mansoor’s mother has turned towards her faith in an attempt to save her son in the afterlife. In an effort towards healing, Mansoor has invited his mother to join him as dramaturg and co-conspirator. In reading, discussing, and translating various adaptations of the source play, together they mine Greek tragedy, Islamic traditions, and their own memories to create an original performance locating love across faith. Can prayer substantiate care? Can care manifest as artistic methodology and inquiry? Can Mansoor and his mother contend with Antigone’s fate? Join us for a post-performance reception with Operation Sappho DJ’s.

Discount: The Warhol Museum is extending $10 discounted tickets via their student/member program to TCG Conference attendees. Attendees should purchase the student ticket and simply mention TCG at check-in.
