At this year’s National Conference, we’re turning Open Space into a participatory process! Didn't see the particular conversation you were hoping for already programmed into the detailed agenda of TCG Conference sessions? On Wednesday, May 1, we will begin soliciting ideas from Conference registrants for additional 75-minute breakout sessions, in addition to WellSpace activations of varying lengths, to be included in the Conference agenda.
In the submission process, you can select your preference for time slot (either 2-3:15pm on Wednesday, June 5th or 1:30-2:45pm on Friday, June 7th), as well as propose a title, description, and speakers (they should be individuals who are already attending or plan to attend the Conference - TCG is unable to provide additional support for panelists/speakers). We encourage you to spend some time with our detailed agenda in the Conference App (search “Theatre Communications Group” in your App Store), and propose a session topic that is not already being discussed over the course of our three days together (or needs more coverage than it’s already getting!).
Once your proposal is received by TCG, it will be reviewed to ensure the following:
1. It lists as speakers/presenters/facilitators only those who are already attending and/or planning to attend the Conference. Unfortunately, TCG cannot support the attendance of Open Space presenters who are not already intending to join us in Miami.
2. It is offered in the spirit of generosity and learning, and does not target or "call out" individuals or individual theatres as topics for discussion.
3. It respects the guidelines offered in our Conference Statement of Commitment and Anti-Harassment Policy.
Submissions will be accepted until Sunday, May 12th, at 11:59pm ET. The TCG Conference team will be in touch directly if we have any questions about the proposal as submitted. Submit your session proposal here.
After this deadline, Conference registrants will receive an email inviting them to vote for the top three sessions they’d like to see in the Conference. Each registrant will be allowed to go through the voting process only once. Voting will close on Wednesday, May 22nd at 11:59pm ET. If you submitted a session, you will be informed about its status by Friday, May 24th.
Open Space sessions will be announced online by Wednesday, May 29th.
